1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
Matisse and Picasso I have chosen simply because I always enjoy learning more about Picasso. I then chose the video on Expressionism for a better understanding of the topic.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Matisse and Picasso- the video goes in depth of the relationship between the two artists through use of photos and short film clips as well as other artworks from the artists. An interesting fact I learned was that Picasso did not travel nearly as much as Matisse did.
Expressionism- the video provides much more detail about the art movement of early Germany in the early 20th century. The video also describes and shows examples of how expressionism emphasizes color's emotial properties while demonstrating less concern other art movements.
3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? 4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
The videos provide much more detail and examples from different areas of art than that of the book. For example, much more was explained about Matisse and Picasso in the hour video than anything that I have read in the text. The videos are much more informational to me as the examples shown have vivid documentation about the art work and artists.
