Mod 12 Video Review
1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
Andy Warhol video: I've always been interested in Andy Warhol due to the whole Campbell soup ordeal so I figured I would learn more about him
Henry Moore video: I have heard of Henry Moore, however do not know any information on him so I figured I would learn more.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Andy Warhol video- the video talks about the Pop Art movement and life of Andy Warhol. I was interested in finding out how he began simply by photographing his friends and then later filmed them. Then Andy had added paint to his silk screening. Also the many different faces of Liz Taylor were interesting to me how they were all different, however they all have the face preserve the identity of Liz.
Henry Moore video- this video obviously talked about the works of Henry Moore. I was interested in the sculptures of wounded warriors that he had done from a pebble he had found. "One must try to find a synthesis, to come to terms with opposite qualities" was a quote from Moore himself during the video and really stuck out to me. It really explained some of his art work and his influence on other artists.
3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? 4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
Watching these two videos I learned much more about these two artists and they were very helpful in providing examples of their artwork. They were relating to the text by discussing artwork from the time period post WWII and how the artists were changed by it.
