Week 13 and 14 Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

West Coast-  Mainly influence comics, rock n' roll, surfing, etc.. Uses many icons and symbols , very expressive. A fact I learned was that at one point, galleries were not interested in showing Lowbrow, however Laguna art Museum gave it a chance at a custom culture show.

Tate Approach-  This video discussed a certain way that Modern Art has been displayed through intellectual and aesthetic issues questioning. A key part of the video is discussed when artist, Richard Long's artworks were grouped together brought about controversy, however a clear theme and connection are present in the artwork.

Native American- a very interesting video about Archaeological finds of more than 10,000 Native Americans from all around the U.S. and the tensions it brought upon between scientists, historians, and museum curators and N.American groups. One of the most interesting finds I found was that scientist, Samuel Morton had concluded from the finds that cranium size is directly related to their level of intelligence.

Acquiring Mind- This video reflected many different Museums are of which are similar however, extremely unique in their own ways. I loved the many different pieces of art from all different museums that were shown and learned much from them.

2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.

Theses videos can defiantly relate to the Art Exhibition project. For example, the videos all contribute in some unique way. Some providing the basic idea of how themed art came about, and different themes and how they are expressed by artists. Also learned, and related to the project is how things are displayed and grouped together in exhibits.

3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?

The films were very informative as I mentioned above, it brought about the previous ideas I have learned about an Art Exhibition and provided videos for examples so I could follow along a lot more easily and have some examples of new ideas!
